Child Care Provider Relief Grants
Counties and cities across Washington received federal CARES Act dollars. Pierce County and the City of Tacoma have dedicated some of these dollars to relief grants for child care providers. Approximately $1.2 million is available to assist child care providers with resources necessary to offer safe, high quality care.
WHO CAN APPLY
Any licensed provider in Pierce County, open or closed, serving children age 0-12 is eligible to apply. Grants are not available to school age ONLY programs. Providers that operate more than one location can submit a separate application for each site.
Grants will be awarded in the following amounts:
A $500 bonus will be awarded to child care providers who have accepted the Working Connections Child Care (WCCC) subsidy in the past 12 months, and for providers who have accepted the homeless subsidy in the past 12 months. Providers may receive up to a $1,000 bonus if they have accepted both WCCC and the homeless subsidy in the past 12 months. The bonus will be in addition to the base grant amount listed above.
Grant applications will be accepted between September 11, 2020 and September 20, 2020 at midnight. Final announcements will be made the week of September 21st.
Providers who are located in the City of Tacoma must spend and report grant dollars by October 25, 2020. Providers in Pierce County (not in Tacoma), must spend and report grant dollars by November 25, 2020. Grant expenses can be backdated to July 1, 2020. All receipts must be submitted.
WHAT DOCUMENTS DO I NEED TO SUBMIT AN APPLICATION?
Providers must submit an application using the simple online application linked below. Basic information will be collected including your business name, address, and provider license ID number. WHAT DOCUMENTS OR RECEIPTS DO I NEED TO KEEP IF I RECEIVE A GRANT?
Because these awards are federal dollars, recipients must agree to report on how they spent the grant dollars and turn in copies of receipts for all expenses. A template will be provided for recording all expenditures.
Providers who are located in the City of Tacoma must spend grant dollars and submit records by October 25, 2020. Providers in Pierce County (not in Tacoma), must spend grant dollars and submit records by November 25, 2020. Grant expenses can be backdated to July 1, 2020.
