Home visiting professionals are uniquely positioned to talk with parents and caregivers about the  NEAR Science –(Neuroscience, Epigenetics, Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) & Resilience)- especially about how their ACEs histories may be impacting their lives and may influence their parenting. The NEAR@Home toolkit was created, reviewed, and tested by home visitors, mental health providers, and other experts in the field of NEAR and home visiting. It is designed for home visitors who have some basic knowledge of NEAR science and have at least one year of experience in their home visiting model. After this training, you will be able to apply NEAR toolkit knowledge in your practice and conduct a NEAR session. This interactive training will include hands-on activities and skills practice opportunities.

Lunch and door prizes will be provided.

June Project Child Success Partnership Meeting and Symposium of Our Youngest Citizens Follow Up

On behalf of the Children’s Museum of Tacoma and Project Child Success, we appreciate your presence, ideas, and engagement in our ongoing discussion of how to make Pierce County a child centered community. We are inspired by your ideas for action! The notes from our discussion and activities are available below.

Together, we committed to the following actions:

  1. A training for staff on how to create a welcoming environment for children.
  2. Baskets of books and activities to be distributed to waiting rooms.
  3. A symbol of solidarity, to show our commitment to growing a child centered community.

Over the next few months we’ll be working to make these actions a reality. However, our third commitment is ready to launch now! We are excited to share new buttons and window clings that you use to celebrate nurturing relationships and environments. Below is a video about how to get involved and spread the word!
